The import and export volume reached US$1.22 billion, up 23.4% year-on-year; the export value reached US$910 million, an increase of 26.0% year-on-year. Among them, plant extracts accounted for 36.5% of the import and export volume of Chinese herbal medicines, and continued to maintain steady growth.

Total volume of imports and exports grow steadily

According to statistics from China Customs, China's import and export of plant extracts reached US$450 million from January to June this year, an increase of 19.6% year-on-year; total import and export volume maintained a steady increase, up 10.2% year-on-year.

From January to June this year, the export volume of plant extracts continued to grow steadily. The export volume was US$380 million, which represented a year-on-year increase of 19.3%, accounting for 41.6% of the total exports of Chinese medicines; the export volume was 23,000 tons, an increase of 13.0% over the same period; Export prices rose slightly, an increase of 5.6% year-on-year.

The import volume of plant extracts was USD 66.983 million, which was 21.1% higher than the same period of last year, accounting for 21.7% of the import volume of Chinese medicines; the import volume was 5649.6 tons, only a year-on-year increase of 0.1%; the average import price increased by a large margin and increased by 20.9% year-on-year.

From the monthly statistics, the monthly import and export volume and quantity of China's plant extracts from January to June this year did not change much and remained stable. However, judging from the year-on-year increase in the amount and amount of imports, both the import and export have seen significant increases in the period from January to March, and the increase in import and export of plant extracts in China from April to June was relatively low. See the table below for details.

Flat performance on the US market

From the perspective of export regions, from January to June 2010, China’s exports and exports to all continents showed a substantial increase; the average export prices increased at different rates. Asia, Europe, and North America are still the main areas for the export of plant extracts in China. From January to June, exports to these three regions accounted for 89.2% of China's total exports of plant extracts.

Among them, the export volume of China's plant extracts to the Asian region was 200 million U.S. dollars, accounting for 52.8% of the total, and the export value increased by 22.9% year-on-year. This increase was mainly due to the increase in export volume, and the average export price did not change much. At present, the plant extracts exported from China are mainly used as raw materials for foods and health products (or “dietary supplements”) in the international market. The growing demand for Asian health products in the consumer market has prompted China’s plant products to export to the region. The increase in volume.

As an important part of the Asian market, the ASEAN market, after the official launch of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, has created a huge pull for the Asian plant extract market. From January to June, the export volume of China's plant extracts to the ASEAN region amounted to US$67.208 million, an increase of 66.9% year-on-year, and the number of exports increased by 31.1% year-on-year. The average export price increased by 19.4% year-on-year, showing a trend of volume and price rising. The proportion of exports of plant-extracted products in the region has risen to 17.7%. The outstanding performance of the ASEAN market has made the region expected to become another leading market for the export of plant extracts in Japan after Japan and the United States.

From the perspective of exporting countries, the export of China's plant extracts to various countries from January to June showed a steady increase in exports and exports.

The top three countries in terms of export volume are Japan, the United States, and Malaysia. From January to June, China's export of plant extracts to Japan reached US$65.211 million, accounting for 17.2%, an increase of 8.1% year-on-year. Although its export volume increased by 13.6% year-on-year, its export price growth was not significant because its average export price dropped by 4.9%.

Like the Japanese market, the U.S. market performed equally from January to June this year. Although China's export of plant extracts to the United States was as high as 52.625 million U.S. dollars, accounting for 13.9%, it was only 6.5% year-on-year, and the number of exports even fell by 7.4%. From the monthly data, since January of this year, China's plant extracts continued to decline in exports to the United States. In June, the number of exports was only 2973.6 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 10.3%, the lowest since March 2009. The year-on-year growth rate of exports also showed a downward trend until the year-on-year decline in June.

The reason is mainly that the full implementation of the American dietary supplement cGMP has had a certain impact on China's export of plant extracts. According to the cGMP regulations for dietary supplements issued by the FDA in 2007, all manufacturers of dietary supplements must comply with cGMP regulations by June 2010 at the latest. As an important supplier of dietary supplements to the United States, the export of plant extracts in China must be indirectly affected. As the world's major dietary supplement market, the market capacity of US herbal dietary supplements in 2009 has reached US$5.03 billion, an increase of 4.8% over the same period of last year. Faced with such a huge market demand, China's plant extracts suppliers can only make timely adjustments. Only by actively responding can we be invincible in the international market battle.

Among the top ten countries in the ranking of export of plant extracts, both German and French export volumes and numbers have increased significantly. The reasons are as follows. First, the financial crisis in the first half of 2009 was more serious. The decrease in demand from Germany and France led to a decline in China's exports. Second, with the recovery of the economy, enterprises using plant extracts as their raw materials, their stocks were almost exhausted. A new round of short-swap input boosted the export volume of plant extracts in China. However, from January to June this year, the export of plant extracts from China to Spain, Mexico, and South Korea was not satisfactory, and the number of exports showed a significant decline. Especially in the Korean market, the amount of exports and exports decreased by 18.1% and 23.5% year-on-year.

The size of the company is generally small

From the perspective of the export situation of various provinces and cities, from January to June of this year, except for some provinces and cities, the export volume and export volume of plant extracts in most provinces and cities have maintained steady growth. Among them, in Zhejiang Province, which ranked first in terms of export value in 2009, its export volume fell by 22.2% year-on-year from January to June, and the average export price dropped by nearly 34.0% year-on-year, ranking sixth. Shandong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Guangdong ranked among the top four in terms of export value. From January to June, the export volume of these four provinces totaled 160 million U.S. dollars, accounting for 41.7% of the total export volume of plant extracts in China; A total of 431 export companies accounted for 47.7% of the total number of exporters of plant extracts in China (904). It can be seen that the export enterprises of plant extracts in China are relatively concentrated, but the industrial concentration is relatively low.

From the perspective of corporate structure, from January to June this year, there were 904 enterprises engaged in the export of plant extracts in China, an increase of 4.5% year-on-year. Among them, private enterprises (615 companies, accounting for 68.0% of the total), foreign-funded enterprises (132 companies, accounting for 14.6%), and state-owned enterprises (154 companies, accounting for 17.0%) accounted for 47.1% of the export value, respectively. 35.8% and 16.9%. It is not difficult to see that the scale of plant extracts in China is still generally small, and foreign participation is relatively high.

From the trade perspective, the export of plant extracts in China is still dominated by general trade, accounting for as much as 86.8% of its exports, followed by feed processing trade, which accounts for 10.7% of exports.

Eucalyptus oil grows rapidly year-on-year

From January to June this year, the export volume and export volume of most varieties of plant extracts in China showed steady growth. From a single species, eucalyptus oil (export value of 40.339 million US dollars, an increase of 88.3%), camphor (2398.1 million US dollars, 57.0%), liquorice juice and extracts (8.7934 million US dollars, 9.3%), rutin And its derivatives (7,301,000 US dollars, 33.8%) and other products have different degrees of growth.

According to the use of plant extract products, they can be classified into categories such as medicinal and health food extracts, food additive extracts, and flavor and flavor extracts. Among them, the export volume and export volume of food additive extracts have been further increased. This is mainly due to the significant increase in global demand for this product in recent years. As representative products of such extracts, natural plant pigments and sweeteners The growth rate of Yeju extract in recent years is even more pronounced. The export volume of enterprises mainly engaged in such products also showed a substantial increase; while the extracts of medicinal and health products are mainly of the traditional type, and their export performance was from January to June this year. The growth is relatively stable and the market is relatively large; in addition, the export volume of extracts of flavors and fragrances is also steadily increasing, which is related to the increase in demand in the international market in recent years.

Enterprises should pay attention to the changes in European and American policies

As a whole, from January to June 2010, China's export trade in plant extracts was stable. Exports and exports both showed a certain degree of growth, and individual markets showed a slight decline in exports. For the current situation, manufacturers We should pay more attention to changes in European and American market policies.

In addition, with increasingly fierce competition in foreign trade, the domestic market for health products has grown rapidly. The domestic demand for planted and raised products is strong, and planting and lifting companies can make slight adjustments in their future development strategies, implement internal and foreign development models, and actively explore the domestic market. For example, at the beginning of this year, a beverage named “Blueberry Ice Tea” was soon favored by consumers and achieved a good sales performance. The blueberry used in the study, called "bilberry", is a best-selling dietary supplement in Europe and the United States, but before the bilberry extract product was sold in the domestic market has been unsatisfactory, few companies deeply developed bilberry products, our country Most of the Bilberry extract production companies mainly supply raw materials to foreign markets. The success of “Blueberry Ice Tea” may give some inspiration to domestic plant extracts companies: through the independent research and development or cooperative development, the transition from simple plant extract raw material production to preparation finished product production will be achieved through the extension of the industrial chain. The market gains greater benefits.
