New cultivation of fruit trees

First, pest control. This step focuses on managing common pests such as red and white spider mites, leaf miners, leaf roller moths, aphids, and early signs of leaf diseases. To prevent red and white spider mites, a 1.8% schizophyllan solution diluted at 5,000 times is recommended. For controlling red spider mites specifically, products like Acarus or Green Cyclone are effective. When it comes to leaf miners, the most efficient treatment is diflubenzuron at 3%. To manage leaf roller moths, insecticides such as Chrysanthemum or beta-cypermethrin can be used. For aphid control, imidacloprid or similar agents are widely applied. Regular monitoring and timely application are essential to ensure effectiveness. Second, fertilization. Each tree should receive 50 grams of urea and 50 grams of potassium dihydrogen phosphate. The fertilizer should be applied by digging 5-10 cm around the trunk, starting from 30-40 cm away from the base. Alternatively, 6-8 pits of similar depth can be dug around the tree, or 3-5 radial trenches if the tree is smaller. After applying the fertilizer, water the area if there is no rain. It’s also recommended to spray a 300-fold dilution of urea or potassium dihydrogen phosphate every 10 days. Recently, combining urea with other treatments has proven beneficial for overall tree health. Third, tree management. 1. Prune any new shoots that are less than 50 cm above the ground to encourage stronger growth. 2. When the central shoot grows beyond 60-70 cm, it’s time to pinch the tip (also known as "picking the heart"). This helps promote the development of lateral branches. 3. For secondary branches that compete with the central shoot, gently bend or tie them to change their growth direction. This weakens their dominance and allows the central tip to grow more vigorously. By the time the tree reaches 7-8 branches, these secondary buds can be removed entirely. 4. If the central tip is leaning or the young tree isn’t growing straight, install a support pole next to the tree and tie the central tip or the trunk with a rope to help it grow upright. This ensures better structure and long-term health.
