Hospital Bag Essentials

As we wrapped up our Memorial Day weekend, it began with a bit of excitement—an early morning scare that led to a quick trip to the hospital. Thankfully, everything turned out fine, and we're all doing great. Our little bunny is still thriving inside the bump I'm carrying, and with today marking 37 weeks, we’re officially full-term. Given that we've already experienced one unexpected visit to the hospital, we decided it was high time to ensure our "go bag" was fully stocked and ready for action. This being my third pregnancy, I know exactly what I need to make my stay as comfortable as possible without overpacking. Here's my essential checklist and what I've packed in the bag that's now sitting by the door, eagerly awaiting its moment. 1) **Pillow with Pretty Sham** – Comfort is key, and having my own pillow makes all the difference. I'll be bringing a decorative sham to keep it separate from the hospital's pillows. 2) **Coconut Water** – Staying hydrated is crucial, and I’ve found a pineapple-flavored coconut water that’s become my go-to. I’ve also tossed in some trail mix—just in case the hospital kitchen isn’t open when I’m ready to deliver (which happened last time). 3) **Nursing Bra** – A cute and comfy nursing bra is a must-have. I’ll also include a few nursing pads in case my milk comes in while still at the hospital. 4) **Toiletries and Makeup** – I’ll bring my favorite mascara and a touch of NARS blush for those precious first photos with the baby. A little touch-up goes a long way! 5) **Lip Balm** – Labor tends to dry out my lips, so I’ll have a minty lip balm on hand for comfort. 6) **Comfy Going Home Outfit for Mama** – Stretchy maternity leggings and a soft top are perfect for the journey home. You never know what size you’ll fit into afterward. 7) **Slippers** – Slippery floors and chilly hospital rooms call for warm slippers or socks to keep my feet cozy. 8) **Pajamas** – Something loose and easy to nurse in is essential. I’ll bring my own nightgown or use the hospital gown if I prefer, along with a cozy robe. 9) **Coconut Oil** – I’ve been using coconut oil for everything, and I’ll have a small container in my bag for massages, moisturizing, diaper rash relief, and more. 10) **Phone, Camera and Chargers** – For photos, music, and keeping entertained, these gadgets are indispensable. 11) **Going Home Outfit for Baby** – Don’t forget a weather-appropriate outfit for the little one to come home in—it’s always nice to have something cute. 12) **Cozy Socks** – These can double as mittens if needed. Hospitals often provide hats, but I’ve picked out a sweet, soft pair just in case. 13) **Swaddling Blankets** – The hospital provides a couple, but I’m excited to try out the Aden + Anais brand, which I’ve heard great things about. 14) **Boppy Pillow** – I’ll bring one along, just in case I decide to use it during my stay. 15) **Car Seat** – Essential for bringing baby home safely. The hospital supplies most basics like gowns, pads, blankets, and diapers, so only pack extras if you prefer your own. Also, remember to bring your birth plan if you have one! Happy packing, everyone! xo [Insert image of the signature] --- I hope this list helps others who might be preparing for their own hospital bag.
