A normal inspection of the generator in operation is a necessary condition to ensure long-term safe operation of the generator. During normal inspections, the operator should check the running generator as follows:
(1) Check the temperature and vibration of each part of the generator.
(2) Check the excitation system, especially check the operation of the slip ring and commutator.
(3) Check the end of the stator winding for vibration and wear and discoloration.
(4) Check the cooler for water leakage and frosting.
