Seedling preparation in apple cultivation includes:
1. Use virus-free seedlings and dwarf rootstocks. The use of virus-free seedlings and dwarfing rootstocks for virus-free dwarf close planting is the development trend of apple production, and it is also an important means for high-quality fruit production. The virus-free seedlings have the advantages of robustness, orderliness, high germination rate, strong branching ability, rapid expansion of the canopy, high yield, and high fertilizer and water use efficiency. Dwarfing rootstocks is the main approach for dense planting of apple.
2. Choose quality and qualified seedlings. The basic requirements for qualified seedlings are as follows: pure stock rootstock, coordinated scion and rootstock; aboveground shoots are robust, fully mature, with a certain height and thickness, full shoots, well-developed root system, fresh, and large number of roots. Grafting site is good, do not carry pests.
3. Seedling disinfection. Commonly used methods are: soaking antivirus method, commonly used agents are lime sulfur and Bordeaux mixture; fumigation antivirus methods commonly used potassium chlorate, sulfur, chlorination and so on.
4. Seedlings are planted. Seedlings can not be cultivated in time and they must be temporarily planted to prevent it from drying out.
