In fact, rice is a crop that absorbs more silicon. Generally, stems and leaves contain 10% to 20% of silica. Silica content in rice is about 10 times that of nitrogen and about 20 times that of phosphorus. Rice lack of silicon, easily lead to slender stalks, easy lodging and infection diseases, the early lack of silicon to reduce the number of rice spikes, the late lack of silicon is the number of spikelets, rice high quality and high yield is not guaranteed. The use of silicon fertilizer in rice can enhance rice resistance to diseases and insect pests and lodging resistance, improve plant type, increase light energy utilization, reduce leaf transpiration and water loss, and increase water use efficiency. It can generally increase production by more than 10% and improve the quality of rice. Especially in the new paddy fields, cold paddy fields, and acid soils, the effect of applying silicon fertilizer on rice is more pronounced.
Although zinc is only a kind of trace element, it has a great effect on the hi-zinc crops such as rice and corn, and the yield increase effect is very good. Rice is very sensitive to zinc. Zinc deficiency will cause the leaves to grow slowly. The new leaves will be short and narrow, and the leaves will be lighter. In particular, the yellow veins will fade to the base near the midrib. Severe plants are obviously dwarfed and have few tillers. The fields often show irregularities. The roots of the rice plants are old and brown, and the heading stage shows "flowers are not harvested". Generally, the yield is reduced by 1 to 3 percent, and serious fields may even be destroyed. The results of large-scale experiments showed that after reasonable application of zinc, rice plant height, effective tiller number, number of grains per spike, and 1000-grain weight all increased, and the empty-heading rate decreased, generally yielding more than 15%. Especially in the acidic soil, calcareous soil and cold soaking fields, new changes in paddy field application of zinc fertilizer is more obvious.
Specific application methods are: (1) Silicon fertilizer application. Silicates containing calcium and magnesium are used as silicon fertilizers. When basal fertilizers are applied, they are mixed with other fertilizers. The application rate per acre is 1 kg of effective silicon. (2) Zinc application. Generally recommended for the application of basal fertilizer, Mushi sulfate 1 kg, mixed with other fertilizers; also can be used for extra-root fertilizer, fertilizer and seed treatment in the middle and later stages. The concentration of 0.3% zinc sulfate is commonly used for dressings outside roots, and about 0.5 kg of zinc sulfate is used for the top dressings. Both are performed after the symptoms of zinc deficiency or at the end of the tillering period. The seeds are treated with 0.1% zinc sulfate soaked in rice for 24 hours.
