The U.S. Department of Agriculture said that the main reason for the increase in export revenue of agricultural products in fiscal year 2011 is the weakening of competition from the Black Sea region, which will help U.S. farmers export 8.1 billion U.S. dollars worth of wheat in fiscal 2011, compared with the expected wheat export revenue of fiscal year 60. The U.S. dollar increased by 35%.
In May, the U.S. Department of Agriculture had forecasted an export revenue of US$5.3 billion for the 2010 fiscal year.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture also expects U.S. corn exports to grow by 16.5% in the 2011 fiscal year to reach 10.6 billion U.S. dollars, compared to the estimated fiscal year 2010 export revenue of 9.1 billion U.S. dollars. The US Department of Agriculture estimates that cotton exports will increase by 25% in 2011 fiscal year to reach 6 billion U.S. dollars.
Although the economic situation in the United States and most of the developed countries in the world is bleak, the export of agricultural products in the United States shows a growth trend because the main customers of American farmers are developing countries in Asia, and the economic development situation in these countries is the strongest.
The US Department of Agriculture on Tuesday estimated that the United States’ agricultural exports to Asia in the fiscal year of 2011 are expected to reach 47 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 5.1% year-on-year.
