This paper introduces the functional characteristics of power meters and the selection scheme of power meters in the electric energy metering of large public buildings. The communication function of power meters can be combined with computers to form a power management system with powerful energy reports, curve analysis and graphics. The display function makes the application of electric power meter in the electric energy metering of large public buildings more and more extensive.

0 Preface
At present, according to the statistics of relevant state departments, the annual average power consumption per square meter of building area of ​​office buildings and large public buildings of state organs is 85.4 degrees (annual average 85.4kWh/m2), accounting for 22% of the total electricity consumption of cities and towns nationwide.
